MCV provides lighting, sound, production and technical assistance for theaters and events.
The company wished to refresh it's identity. This started with a 60 minute brainstorm about the company's identity and direction.
To get the creative juices flowing I started my process by collecting photographs and images to create a moodboard. I did this to analyse shapes, colors, typography and look at the brand in a visual way.
MCV's expertise is sound, lighting, it's production and a great understanding about the technique behind it. The harmony of these skills becomes essential in the development of a logo that represents the brand's personality.
With plenty of inspiration I continued the process by translating the ideas about shapes and colors into sketches. I've always believed that a logo must begin with a human hand.
This stage is filled with free-flowing creativity running at its highest frequency. I'll create a number of potential logos, all with their own set of variations. At some point I find 'the one', that I'll sketch in more detail.
With the ideas organized and on paper, I was able to begin the process of logo concept creation. Depending on the design package selected, I offer concepts in groups of 3, 5 and 8. Or in other words: bronze, silver and gold.
MCV's silver package allowed me to develop 5 original concepts for them to review. Each of the concepts were developed to highlight varied potential directions for the project. MCV's spectrum of skills and strong personality created a wide variety of potential concepts.
The final logo design by Rick Bierman Designs works effectively as a new logo for MCV's identity. The created shape represents sound bars, helping to communicate the diversified skills and making the connection to sound.
